We are a French-Ukrainian family residing in the picturesque town of Evian-les-Bains on Lake Geneva. We embrace a multicultural and multilingual lifestyle and are eager to welcome an au pair into our home. We're excited to learn from your culture and language and promise a rich cultural exchange in return. We have already had a 6 months Au Pair experience and know for a fact that our sensitivity to cultural differences (learned the hard way by aligning two cultures at home) is an important facilitator for the Au Pair integration and well-being. About Our Family: Our home in Evian-les-Bains offers a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and the French Alps. The town, renowned for its world-famous water, boasts a serene yet lively atmosphere. Our family consists of our son, Ulysse, who is 3.5 and has started school in September, and our gentle Swiss Shepherd, Railey. We hope our Au pair will become an older sibling figure to Ulysse, guiding and playing with him. We live in a big house with a view on Geneva lake and the Alps, with a yard, pool and jacuzzi. You will have a nicely equipped and private personal space. It takes 5 min by car (20 min on foot) to get to closest Geneva lake beach and 15 min by car to the closest ski slopes. Your Role: - Engage with Ulysse after school, possibly picking him up, and accompanying him to after-school activities. - Immerse Ulysse in the English language, speaking with him exclusively in English. - Organize enjoyable and educational activities. - Prepare light snacks. What We Offer: - A comfortable private studio on the ground floor, complete with its own bathroom. - A competitive monthly allowance. - Personal use of a car on your days off. - A heartwarming family ambiance with exposure to diverse cultures. - Opportunities to travel and explore France, Switzerland, and possibly Italy. - Social security coverage - Car insurance We're Looking For Someone Who: - Is a native English speaker. - Has prior experience with preschool-aged children. - Cherishes nature and outdoor activities. - Respects and appreciates the unique personalities of children. - Has a safe driving record and be willing to prove it: when you get access to our car, we shall pay an insurance and this document will be required by insurance. - Has excellent work ethics and a sense of responsibility: you will most likely work less than legal 25h/week on average. But when you work, it must be your priority. - Solid mental health and good personal mental hygiene: moving abroad can be a stressful experience and we (with our background discussed above) understand it! However, it is absolutely critical for us that no personal issues be transferred onto a well-being of a 3 year old child - Adaptability to a child while having the sense of leadership and not being afraid to be a bad guy: our 3.5yo goes to school and at home, he needs a break and rest from rules, imposed activities, social pressure. We want him to rest with you, in you respecting and following his flow. He would also, however, especially when tired, test the limits and you should be ok to be the adult and the leader in the situation. While any punishment is absolutely forbidden in our home, boundaries are welcome and healthy. - Tunes Into Feelings: Recognizes and acknowledges the child's feelings without judgment, providing comfort when needed. - Values Personal Space: Knows when to engage and play with the child, and when to give them their own space to explore and reflect. - Is Sensitive to Cues: Can read and respond to the child's non-verbal cues, ensuring they feel understood and supported. - Promotes Positive Interaction: Encourages open communication, ensuring the child feels heard and valued. - Is open to potentially spending multiple years with our family, provided there's mutual affinity and feasibility.
