Letter to host family Dear host family, I hope you are all doing fine. My name is consleter Auma, I am 26 years old. I am a loving, caring, thoughtful individual with a bubbly personality. In Kenya I come from the native tribe Luo but I can also speak English and Swahili fluently as we use them everyday in school as the official languages. My ability to be bilingual and love for languages, makes it easier for me to learn new languages and being an aupair can provide that environment for me. I grew up on the country side in area called Siaya, in a family of 6, my parents and 3 of my siblings (3 boys and 1 girl). I am the second child and the only girl. Being the second born and having two younger siblings, shaped me to be more hardworking and responsible in terms of caring for my younger siblings as well as setting a good example for them growing up. In my culture, a girl child is brought up to be a home maker, which means I learnt how to do house chores early on. Being the only girl my parents also made sure my brothers would help out around the house, which set a good example for me in terms of gender equality. I am passionate about providing the best childcare and have a genuine love for working with children. I currently work part time in Kindergarten with kids 4 years. Mostly we just play and teach them lightly how to read and write. After I finished highschool, I worked as a babysitter, especially for families that had younger children under 5 years old. I personally enjoy spending time with kids, as it is always nice to help nature them and even more exciting to watch as they learn new things. This has taught me to be very patient, responsible, a good listener and flexible, as all this is required while taking care of young children. I can cook very well and through tiktok & youtube, I have been able to learn how to follow new recipes and cook new dishes for my family. I can also do laundry and fold clothes neatly. I can vacuum and I am also familiar with using various kitchen appliances. During my leisure time, I love traveling, storytelling, watching movies and learning new things. I would like to become your Aupair because I love children and it would be a great opportunity for me to learn and gain experience on how things in a family setting, are done in your culture. I am prepared to play the role of a big sister to your children while teaching them something about my culture,food and maybe a few phrases from my languages. Being that I have worked before with families, I can easily adapt to the new tasks and your daily family routines quickly, hence becoming a big help for your family. I am respectful, disciplined and highly motivated with good communication skills, which allows me to get along well with both parents and children.
