GEM, 26 ÅR

I am Gem B. Amengual, 26 years old, a Filipino, and single. I graduated from PHINMA University of Pangasinan with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Financial Management. During my college years, I was a working student at my aunt’s house. I was babysitting her 2-year old daughter at that time. I was the one who played with her daughter, prepared her meals, and cleaned and tidied up the room when my auntie was busy at her work. In exchange for my service, she gave me weekly allowances in order for me to finance my schooling. After I graduated from my studies, I was hired at The Orange Company as a pod teller for almost 2 years. During that time I am actively attending the GALCM Ministry, and I was volunteered to take care of the kids at my church every Sunday. I was the one who created extracurricular activities for the children, like drawing, board games, etc., so they would not get bored and cry during our Sunday service so their parents wouldn't disturb. I enjoy planning creative and educational activities that keep kids engaged, from arts and crafts to outdoor adventures. I believe that learning should be fun, and I strive to create a positive atmosphere where children can thrive. In addition to my childcare experience, I also have a 10-year-old brother who is currently in elementary school. I was helping him to make his homework and projects, and I also taught him in his subjects where he finds it hard. My talent is cooking, and my hobbies are watching movies, traveling, playing board games, listening to music, and hiking, which I believe can also be fun activities to share with kids. I’m committed to being a supportive and caring presence in my host family’s home and look forward to building a strong relationship with my host family. I have a small family; they are sweet and kind. My father is a security guard, and my mother has a meat business, and I have 3 siblings. My oldest brother is working for a BPO company, my sister is working for a bank, and my younger brother is currently studying in elementary school. I learned about the Au Pair program through social media. When I watched the videos about it, I was inspired, and I want to experience it also. Europe is my dream destination, and being an Au pair in Europe sounds like an amazing way to explore new culture and people, and it will be a lifetime experience that I will forever cherish. I want to travel different places, try new foods, meet new people, and learn a new language. My plans after my Au pair are to go back to the Philippines and to be with my family. I am qualified to be an Au pair because I have experience in childcare, and in case of emergency at my host family’s house, I may be able to help them, especially the kids, because I trained and have certification and license ID for emergency first aid in the Philippine Red Cross.
