ANTONIET, 24 ÅR

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Antoniet C. Tero, 24 years old, single and no child. I am from the Philippines. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and I graduated with Latin Honors (Magna Cum Laude) at Bohol Island State University-Main Campus. I am currently working as a Client Service Associate at BDO Unibank, Inc. I am the youngest among five siblings. I have two brothers and two sisters. Since childhood, I have always aspired to have a younger sibling because I am very fond of taking care of children, especially the little ones. Unfortunately, my mother didn't have the chance to become pregnant again, which led to me being labeled as the youngest in the family. As a way of expressing my deep and profound love for children, I offered a free hand to my neighbor when I was 14. I volunteered to look for their children aged 3-6 years old when both parents were not around. I engaged in playful activities with them, wiped their tears when they cried, and provided academic guidance. As they have matured, they view me as their elder sibling. They speak openly about their difficulties and disappointments with me. I have been a “big sister” they often need as years passed by. In addition, I Iooked after my niece with Down Syndrome from the age of 0 month to the age of 6 years. I was responsible for taking care of her, helping her parents bathe her, washing her lampiens, changing her diaper, and calming her down when she cried. Not only do I excel in taking care of children, but I also excel in tutoring them. In fact, I tutored some of my cousins for free. They visit our house to seek assistance with the lessons they find challenging. Other than that, I know how to cook, ride a bicycle, and I am also good at doing light household chores as I was trained by my mother and elder sisters to do so. In my free time, I watch kdramas, play volleyball, go beaching, and immerse myself in the wonders of nature by walking and jogging. Since I was a child, I have always had the dream of witnessing the beauty and tranquility of Europe. I aspire to be an au pair because it is a way to enrich my dream of working and living abroad, especially in The Netherlands. I am incredibly hopeful that I will be able to live in this dream which has been rooted in my heart for a long time. In addition, I am very enthusiastic about meeting new people, experiencing new language and cultures, and getting to travel to any European countries.
