HEJ VÆRTSFAMILIE! MIT NAVN ER OMARA :)
Dear future host family, My name is Omara, I am 29 years old and I am Venezuelan, I come from an island called "Isla de Margarita". I grew up in this sunny and quiet place, with plenty of beaches and good people. I lived here with my parents, Omar and Josefina, and my younger sister Alejandra. Currently I have been residing in the city of Buenos Aires in Argentina for 6 years (from 2016), there are no beaches nearby but the city and the country are very beautiful. My experience with infants ranges from taking care of my cousins or smaller neighbors till works with kids in swimming classes (as swimming coach assitant) and having medical practices at hospitals in the infants field when i was in the university. How you see I have general experience about childcare. Something that I always enjoy taking care of children is that they can surprise you! They help you connect with fun and present time. They also help you rethink your way of communicating, since it must be more assertive and direct. Today, I still living in Buenos Aires ( Argentina) and I am working as an Operations Assistant in a good company that gives me the opportunity to participate in volunteering and donation days (with children and people from the third age). Even though I have accomplished many great things, I may have forgotten a bit about how much I love deeply connecting with people from other cultures and languages. In my current job I share the office with people from India and USA and also share some quality time with their families (who resides in Buenos Aires), that´s give me the opportunity to learn every day new things about Indian culture like food, celebratios day and custom ( and a bit of Hindi of course) but well, not as much as I would like. I want to dedicate this whole year living a different culture with a family, learning a new language, improving my English and at the same time learning to be a better version of Aupair every day, supporting and creating a good relationship with my host family (incluiding the pets). I would love to have the opportunity to be part of an amazing family and the reason why I decided to do this is the pleasure of making an adventure in another country in a family atmosphere, which I really value. I am really excited with this opportunity and I am looking forwards to get to know my new family better. All of the best and big hug, Omara --- If up to now you have been interested in my profile, here are more details about me: -Family and friends: As I mentioned, I grew up in Margarita Island (Venezuela), a sunny and quiet place with plenty of beaches and good people. I lived here with my parents, Omar and Josefina, and my younger sister Alejandra with our Dogs and Cats. My dad is a Marine Biologist (you can easily picture how easy was for me to learn to swim) and my mom is a nice Teacher, she is now retired but still enjoys teaching children to read in her free time. My sister lives with me in Buenos Aires, Argentina and she is just a great chef. I have learned a lot about food passion and of course cool tecniques to put on practice meanwhile I cook. Mostly of my current friends are argentinians, but the past year I started to make Indian friends because of my job and I feel so lucky to got to know them; they shared me so much about their culture and live and even with so many differences it is so wonderful that we make so much connection and affection. -My personality: I am a very active and hard worker girl! During my day I keep a positive and happy attitude and I like to apply creatives solutions to any little or big challenge that could appears. I really like to be organizate and also keep my space clean and cool and as you can suppose I am very close to weekly and monthly organizers/schedule. These are good allies if you want to have balance life meanwhile your are working, studying, exercising and trying to have some free time to relax. -My education: Before coming to live in Argentina, once I graduated from high school (I was 18 yers old), In 2012 I studied English in Bristol, England by 6 months and I had the wonderful joy of meeting and making special friends not only with my host mother but also with my roommates and classmates. I also had the opportunity to travel in England and Europe and try a lot of food, experience new cultures and get out of my comfort zone. I was very grateful for this experience because from a very young age I was able to see other countries through their people and their culture. Later at the University I was studying Biology and Health Sciences at the University and being part of the Red Cross in Venezuela and I reached my 3-year degree (from 2012 till 2015), but due to the situation at that time in Venezuela, my family and I thought it was better that I move to Argentina with my sister in 2016, she is currently an executive chef and I am lucky that she has taught me many recipes but unfortunately not all. Since I arrived in Argentina, I tried to continue my studies while working, but it got a little complicated because of the work-study balance, so I changed my focus to short-term certifications, but focused on the administrative, ecommerce, and hospitality aspects. So far I have done very well but I admit that sometimes I miss fully dedicate my days to the care and well-being of people, especially children. Today, I am doing a certification in the human resources area that I will be finishing very soon and I am working as an Operations Assistant in a good company that gives me the opportunity to participate in volunteering and donation days (with children and people from the third age). Even though I have accomplished many great things, I may have forgotten a bit about how much I love deeply connecting with people from other cultures and languages. -Free time: In my free time, I like to watch independent movies, cook with friends or go for a good coffee and watch pets at the park. Also I like to improving my art skills, i took art classes in an art institute and i got a good level of expertise, so I found mysefl doing some ramdoms portraits. I can enjoy the time by miself or with friends, could be doing outside or inside activities. Normally I´m trying to do activities with positive impact in live in general. -Experience: Since I was 12 years old I have had close interaction with children. My younger cousins used to come on vacations to Margarita Island (both boys, I started taking care of them when they were 4 and 6 years old) and I was able to share and take care of them for whole days, covering food, bathing and entertainment; then with my neighbors, 2 girls (3 and 7 years old) and a boy (5 years old) I had the opportunity to take care of them more regularly, especially on weekends and, unlike my cousins I helped them with their homework, an activity that i really enjoyed. Currently these children are teenagers now and it makes me nostalgic to see how much they have grown now. When I was 17 years old i gave swimming lessons to a small group of 9 children aged 9 to 10 as assitant swimming coach and it is so far one of the most fun experiences I have had but at the same time was an experience where I learned to prioritize child care and in turn encourage them to trust them, clearly, from the hand of the coach. -My languaje: My mother tongue is Spanish and I can also speak English ( C1 level) and understand and read Portuguese (A2 level), now I am taking some Deutsch lessons and still working on my A1 level. -My motivation: I love studies and I feel that together with the experience they form a solid pillar to develop better as a person in life. That is why I believe that this experience gives me the opportunity to continue growing in many ways and this makes me feel motivated to live this experience. A mentioned, I would love to have the opportunity to be part of an amazing family and the reason why I decided to do this is the pleasure of making an adventure in another country in a family atmosphere, which I really value. I am really excited with this opportunity and I am looking forwards to get to know better each other. -My expectations: I imagine miself being part of the routine of my new host family, feeling that I give them that much-needed support. I see myself being responsible for the care of the children and tasks related to them. I would like to be fully integrated into the host family as the kids prefer. I see myself getting the tasks done while prioritizing the safety of the children, but also exuding a fun, calm and flexible attitude to them. I could do cleaning tasks like helping to clean and organize the children's room, washing their clothes, making meals such as breakfast, lunch or dinner, bathing and dressing them, taking them to school or their different classes and helping them with their homework. My expectations are to get to know my new host family and to be able to create bonds while working with the children managing their language. -Other info.: I can not practice high impact sports like futbol or tennis (preventively) due to a small operation on my right knee. In my higschool I was a very sporty girl but given to the injuries I had to opt for sports like swimming or soft running.
