LINDIWE, 19 YEARS

Hello dear host family! My name is Lindiwe, I am 19 years old, and I am a second-year Law student from Mozambique, a warm, tropical country where the coastline shimmers with the Indian Ocean, markets buzz with colours and flavours, and family life is full of laughter and long afternoons outside. Growing up surrounded by such natural beauty taught me to love the sea and simple moments — and it also gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures because of the constant presence of tourists here. I am passionate about cultural exchange and meeting new people; my biggest dream is to travel the world and create connections everywhere. My family is at the centre of who I am. During the week I stay with my aunt so I can be close to university, but weekends are reserved for my parents and siblings — we use that time to enjoy family time together. Balancing studies and family life is important to me: I work hard at university, and I give the same care and attention to my loved ones. Even though I am very career-oriented and already building a clear plan for my future in law, I would also like to take a break from my studies — a gap year to experience life in a new country, explore a different culture, and live the kind of experiences I have always dreamed of. I think being an au pair is the perfect way to do this because it combines my love for discovering new places and meeting new people with my passion and skills in caring for children. It allows me to grow personally and intellectualy while contributing responsibly and wholeheartedly to my host family.
