LUCY, 27 YEARS

My name is Lucy, I am 27 years old and I come from Kenya. I am single and do not have children. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, which I completed in May 2021. I come from a loving family of seven, my parents, three sisters, and one brother. My experience in childcare began shortly after high school, when I volunteered at a daycare center. During this time, I learned a lot about caring for young children and truly enjoyed being part of their daily growth and development. We would play, learn, and engage in fun activities together, and I found great joy in witnessing the milestones they achieved. Later, during my college years, I stayed with my brother and helped care for his three children. I supported them with homework, daily routines, playtime, and even taught them how to ride a bicycle. After completing my studies, I continued my childcare journey by volunteering in a kindergarten, where I assisted in teaching and also led physical education activities. I am currently working in a similar environment, where I support children in learning, playing, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom. I also regularly volunteer at children’s homes with friends, where we spend time playing with the children and donating essential items. I would describe myself as warm-hearted, patient, responsible, and adaptable. I naturally connect with children and enjoy creating a safe, loving, and engaging environment for them. I am also creative, family-oriented, and trustworthy, and I remain calm and flexible even in challenging situations. I have experience caring for children of different ages, including very young children, and I am comfortable handling daily routines such as feeding, bathing, playing, and bedtime. I also enjoy being around animals, especially dogs, and I always follow instructions carefully while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility. I hold a valid passport, I am fully vaccinated, and I am in good health. I speak English and Swahili fluently, and I have basic knowledge of French and German, which I am eager to improve further. In my free time, I enjoy doing creative activities such as crochet, and I would be happy to share this skill with the children if they are interested. I also enjoy cooking simple meals, trying new foods, swimming, cycling, traveling, and outdoor activities. One of my biggest motivations for becoming an au pair is the opportunity to experience cultural exchange. I am very excited to learn about new cultures, languages, and ways of life, while also sharing my own background and values. I believe this experience will be enriching both personally and professionally. I would be truly happy to join a welcoming family where I can contribute positively to the children’s daily lives and become a supportive part of their home.
