FAITH, 25 YEARS

Dear Host Family, I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Faith Melvine, I am 25 years old, and I come from Kenya (Africa). I am writing to express my excitement about the possibility of becoming your au pair and joining your wonderful family. Allow me to introduce myself a bit more. I grew up in the coastal part of Kenya in the shores of Indian ocean in Mombasa city, Miritini. I grew up in a family of 3. My mother and 1 sibling (1 boy and 1 girl). I am a firstborn child, therefore I learnt responsibilities to care for my younger sibling and cousins whom we grew up. My mother taught us how to share responsibilities from a very young age and everybody helped out with the house chores. I have always had a special place in my heart for children. Throughout my life, I have interacted with children in various capacities. I have been a babysitter for my younger brother who is now 17 years, my neighbor’s son who is now 9 years, and my cousins. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, responsibility, and creativity in caring for children. I find joy in connecting with kids, and appreciating their tender, innocent, and pure hearts. In addition to my babysitting experience, I frequently visit rescue centers and children's homes. During these visits, I cook for the children, play with them, and guide them in the right direction. These moments have been incredibly rewarding and have further fueled my passion for working with children. In 2021, I had the honor of contesting for Miss Charity Kenya. This role allowed me to work closely with teen mothers and children, providing them with care, love, and support in numerous ways. I organized activities, offered mentorship, and created a nurturing environment for them. These experiences have strengthened my ability to connect with children and support their emotional and developmental needs. I am eager to become an au pair because I believe it offers a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture this is so interesting for me and has some value addition to me since I am an anthropologist, improve my language skills, and form lasting bonds with a new family. I am excited to share my Kenyan culture with your family and learn about your traditions and way of life. I am a responsible, patient, and compassionate person. I enjoy cooking, reading, and engaging in creative activities such as Singing and dancing. I am confident that my skills and experience with children make me well-suited for the role of an au pair. I am also comfortable with light housework and preparing meals. In my spare time, I love engaging in various activities that I would be delighted to share with your children. Whether it's cooking a new recipe, playing outdoor games, or doing arts and crafts, I am always enthusiastic about creating fun and educational experiences for kids. I look forward to becoming a part of your family, supporting you in your daily routine, and building a close relationship with your children.
