HI THERE, MY NAME IS SHELMA!
Hello there! I’m Shelma, a 23-year-old Indonesian, and I am ready to enter the fascinating cultural exchange journey as an Au Pair. My friends would describe me as cheerful, eccentric, and thoughtful, and my strong passion for film, art, and food inspires me daily to discover and enjoy new things in life with a positive attitude. I am fluent in Indonesian and English. I understand basic Italian, and I am still learning to improve it. Adapting to a new place is not unfamiliar to me because I have lived in different cities, and during college in 2022 I studied abroad in Rome, Italy for one semester. I get along with kids, and I help take care of my nephew and little cousins every now and then. In my free time, I like watching films, taking a walk, reading books, cooking, playing guitar, and doing other fun activities. I am looking forward to becoming an AuPair for a family with a main focus on exchanging cultures and languages based on daily activities and traditions. Throughout the years I've been trying to improve my communication skills, and now I enjoy socializing and meeting new people. I would love to bring my authentic self and build genuine connections. Indonesian is my native language, but I am also fluent in English because I have been using it since a young age. I first learned Italian in 2021 because I was interested in it, and now I am still learning, so I have a basic understanding of the language. Other than that, I have been trying to learn Dutch as well. Based on what I have seen, taking care of children is not a simple task. I am not an expert, but I have learned from my family members the basic and important things. I help take care of my nephew and cousins whenever I am needed. My will to have fun and bubbly personality help me socialize with kids. However, I am also aware of my responsibility to be a positive influence when I am around children. I am also open to learn more and improve myself. For childcare, I can babysit by accompanying children, helping with homework, preparing meals, and participating in educational or recreational activities. For household duties, I can do light chores such as doing the dishes, grocery, and keeping the house tidy. I am a Muslim, and I try to pray five times a day. The prayer times mostly require only a few minutes. My only dietary restriction is pork. My expectation is to have privacy and a room of my own, and a rest time during my time off. An open communication and mutual respect is another thing I keep in mind. Therefore, I am available to further discuss my expectations, which include arrangements for all necessities from both sides. I am excited about the opportunity to become an AuPair for your family :)
