MERLE, 21 YEARS

Hello dear families reading this, my name is Merle, affectionately called "Teddy" by my friends and I'm a 19 year old student from a snuggly little island in the north of Germany. In June of this year I will be graduating and before heading off to university, where I will most likely major in Political Science, I decided I wanted to try out something else and broaden my horizon, so that's why I'm here! I'm interested in politics, as you could probably tell, history and journalism. I'm also into geeky stuff. :^) My hobbies include drawing/painting, writing, reading and all sorts of creative actvities I would also be more than happy to participate in with the children of my host family! I've always loved working with children, though so far I only have one official experience from an internship at an elementary school. However, I regularly used to babysit kids of family friends, which usually take a fast liking to my energetic, yet calm, empathetic and fun nature. Cultural exchange is something that I have always thouroughly enjoyed, as I have friends from all over the world! I love telling others about German traditions and the language, while also learning something myself. A few years ago I spent 2 weeks in the USA as a part of a small exchange program and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have been told I make a good teacher, cook and friend, as well as a hard working person. Therefore I'm sure I could provide a positive impact for you and your family, but most important of all, I'm looking forward to learning something from this experience and getting to know you, your family and your culture.
