SUZANNE, 19 YEARS

Hi ! I’m Suzanne, a 19 year old girl. I currently study Photography in Paris, where I was born and raised. I’ve always loved being around children and started babysitting on a weekly basis when I was 13. I have since then babysat kids from 3 monts old to 14 years old. I have been a scout leader for 3 years, and am currently in charge of a group of 30 girls between 8 and 10 years old ! I’m a very joyful person, I love going on adventures and discovering new locations, new cultures. I am very passionate about art and discovering people’s work, but I only do photography ! I love music, I played the drums for eight years. The activity that takes most of my personal time today is being a scout, it has taught me many skills, especially around communication, as I am responsible of exchanging with the girls’ parents, it has also pushed me into the world of volunteering, which is something I love doing. I have volunteered to help children with their homework, to make and distribute Food to the homeless, to help renovate a castle in the south of France, and more recently, I went to Togo for a month, to teach French and maths to kids in the morning, and do activities in the afternoon ! During this month I was in charge of children from 3 to 8 years old. I’ve always loved being around kids, I have many cousins who I loved taking care of and playing with from a very young age. At 13, I started baby-sitting a 6 years old girl and her brother, who was 9. I loved it and started doing it more and more growing up. I have now babysat kids from 3 months old to 14 years old. I said it before too, but being a scout leader also takes a lot of my free time ! I love seeing the girls evolve and become more comfortable with nature, be more independant and gain confidence over the years. My first language is French. As I grew up, I was taught English in class, but I started wanting to learn it by myself and get better at it in middle school (mostly because my big sister was good at it and i wanted to be just like her haha), and I now have a C1 level (can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express themself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.). I took a German class throughout middle and high school, I can understand it a little, but I struggle to speak it. I also took an optional Italian class for two years in high school, I would say i Can understand it a little as well, but I also struggle to speak it (I am doing duolingo to get better ;)) After studying for two years, I think I want a little break, I don’t want to stop loving photography because I study it too much. I want to take this year off to focus on learning things about myself and let my work evolve out of school, to be able to present a complete body of work for my future applications to schools. I also know that if I don’t plan on doing something exciting I will be bored very fast, I am an active person and need to do a lot and have busy days ! I think being an au pair, traveling and discovering a new city and culture would help me do that. I don’t have a driver’s license yet and can’t guarantee that I’ll have one in September, so I would like to be in a city with good public transportation to be able to move. Having the opportunity to cook and bake in the house would be a great plus !
