Welcome to our family! We are a warm, loving family of five living in the heart of Aarhus, Denmark. We are excited to welcome an au pair into our home to help us with childcare and light housework, while becoming a part of our everyday lives. If you're looking for a harmonious environment where you’ll be valued, involved, and get to experience Danish culture up close, we’d love to hear from you! About Our Family: Our family consists of mom Sigrún (36), dad Morten (41), and our three wonderful children: Alfred (6), Alma (4), and Laura (1). Alfred and Alma are best friends and love to play together, while Laura, our youngest, is full of energy and curiosity. Alfred will be starting school in August 2025, while Alma and Laura are in kindergarten. As a family, we deeply enjoy spending time together, especially outdoors. Both Sigrún and Morten work in healthcare—Morten as a cardiologist and Sigrún as a dermatologist. We do not have any pets. Our Living Situation: We live in a newly renovated, spacious 3-level brick house in Aarhus, close to the university, supermarkets, and both the sea and the forest. The house has a peaceful garden and plenty of space for the whole family. You’ll have a private room on the lower level of the house, complete with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. This level also features a fully equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom, and a separate entrance. It’s a cozy and private space, perfect for relaxation. About Aarhus and the Region: Aarhus is Denmark’s second-largest city and offers a wonderful mix of vibrant city life and beautiful nature. Previously being the European Capital of Culture, Aarhus is rich in cultural offerings like museums, theaters, and festivals. Our home is centrally located, only a 10-minute bike ride from the train station, making it easy to explore the city. The neighborhood itself is quiet, safe, and family-friendly, perfect for walks or cycling. What We Do in Our Spare Time: In our free time, we love to enjoy outdoor activities with the children. We often explore the nearby forest or take trips to the beach, which is just a short bike ride away. We also enjoy relaxing at home, reading stories, and playing games. Family time is very important to us, and we love creating special moments together. Our Daily Routine: Our weekdays are structured but full of love and laughter. The children need to be at school and kindergarten by 8 am, which means our mornings can be busy! Typically, they are picked up around 3:30 pm, and we spend the afternoons together as a family before starting the evening routine of dinner and bedtime. Both Sigrún and Morten have demanding jobs, so we value the help of an au pair to keep our home running smoothly during the week. Tasks, Schedule, and Pocket Money: As our au pair, you will be responsible for helping with the children and light housework. Your day will start with assisting in getting the children ready for school and kindergarten, followed by transporting them by cargo bike. In the afternoon, you’ll pick them up and help with their evening routine. Additional tasks include light grocery shopping, cleaning, and preparing dinner. Your weekends will usually be free for you to enjoy as you wish. We will provide you with pocket money and you’ll have plenty of time to explore Aarhus and Denmark in your spare time.
