MARIELLE, 18 ÅR

Dear Host Family, Hello! I hope this message finds you well. My name is Marielle, but you can call me Mar. I’m an 18-year-old from the sunny Philippines, and I’m so excited at the thought of becoming part of your family! A little about me—I grew up in a home full of love, laughter, and pets (I have five cats and three dogs!). I’ve always enjoyed spending time with kids, whether it’s looking after my little sister, my niece and nephew, or my neighbors’ and friends’ kids. I love coming up with creative games, telling stories, and just being my goofy, cheerful self around them. In my free time, I enjoy riding bicycle as an exercise and trying new things and having fun! I love cooking (get ready for some Filipino dishes—like adobo!), baking sweet treats, watching movies, listening to music, swimming, and even stargazing when the night is clear. I’m also super curious about learning new languages. One of the most memorable experiences I’ve had with children was caring for my niece and nephew during school breaks. Every morning, I’d help them get ready, prepare their favorite breakfast, and plan fun activities to keep them engaged throughout the day. Whether it was arts and crafts, baking cookies, or building pillow forts, we always found something exciting to do.I also play with my neighbors children. We’d spend hours playing outside, reading storybooks, and practicing their English but to make it fun and interesting we do it in role-playing way. It was rewarding to see their smiles and hear their laughter. In addition, I’ve been like a big sister to my own younger sister, helping with homework, preparing snacks, and teaching her some new trend games. Through these experiences, I’ve learned patience, creativity, and how to adapt to the different needs of children, whether they’re energetic, shy, or curious. I’d be happy to help out around the house with light chores, laundry, or even running errands when needed. Whether it’s tidying up or pitching in with daily tasks, since I was 13 my mom has taught me cleaning the house, do my own laundry, even Iron my own school uniforms, and sometimes do the garden. It has been my daily routine in the house so I'm not new with light house chores and I’m ready to lend a hand and keep things running smoothly. Becoming an au pair is something I’ve dreamed about because I love the idea of exploring new cultures, meeting amazing people (that’s you!), and getting to share a bit of my own Filipino culture in return. While I may be young at 18 years old, I assure you that I am mature, reliable, and deeply committed to being a responsible au pair for your family. I understand the trust it takes to welcome someone into your home, and I’m ready to prove that I can be that dependable presence for your children. This program is not just an opportunity for me to care for your little ones, but also a chance to learn from your family’s culture, values, and daily life. At the same time, it will help me grow personally by becoming more independent, adaptable, and understanding.
