EDNA, 24 JAHRE

Dear host family, l hope you all doing fine. My name is Edna Adhiambo. I am 23 years old. I grew up in the western part of Kenya in the shores of Lake victoria. l grew up in family of eight. My parents and five of my siblings. (3 boys and 3 girls). I'm the first born child which means I have had the opportunity to help care for my younger siblings over the years as well as being their role model. Growing up in a big family can be very busy but fun at the same time. This has enabled me to be more caring, independent, reliable, patient,empathetic as well as optimistic. I always try to see the best out of every situation. In my free time l like spending time watching movies/investigative series, listening music, and for outdoor activities I especially enjoy playing football and skating, which l have done enthusiastically since the age of 10. I also enjoy travelling and have for the most of life, travelled extensively in different parts of Kenya, enjoying the beautiful wildlife, landscapes and nature that the country is surrounded by as well as enjoy the multicultural people that live in my country. This has overtime sparked interest and curiosity to travel outside of Kenya to experience other cultures. This inspired my current occupation in the hospitality field as well as office assistance. My education has exposed me to different ways of doing things and farther more how to work and interact with various people. While doing my internship, I worked in a hotel where we would volunteer in the weekends to serve food to homeless children and at times in orphanage home. This farther exposed me to connecting and working with children. I would spend time with the little ones, feeding them and playing with them. I still visit these facilities from time to play with the kids. This has also improved my communication skills overtime. With the life experiences and my interest in new cultures, I think I can be a very good au pair. I can cook very well, I am very neat and organised, I can vacuum and do laundry. I am also able to do first aids. I most of all enjoy the company of children and I find myself being free and bubbly around them. Helping them with homework, playing with them outdoors or riding bikes to school is something that I enjoy and I do the same with my own siblings whenever I can, I also walk them to school. I enjoy being around children because they make me happy and it is nice to see them lighten up whenever they learn something new. l would like to become a mum someday hence living with a family from a different culture , might expose me to a different way of raising children which can be beneficial for me in the future. l would like to create new and lasting memories with you and hopefully become a part of your family, more cultured & confident during my stay with you. I am looking forward to a host family who is open -minded, kind and lovely. I am looking forward to being a big sister and role model to your children, possibly teach them something from my culture. I can speak 3 languages fluently (English, Swahili,Luo). Hopefully I can learn a fourth language during my stay with you. I hope we can develop a close relationship and live together as a family.
